The Sunny Spot

Hi everyone,

I am glad the holiday rush is slowing down. We still have out of town family in the area, but the main shindigs are over.

This is what we did most of the weekend. Snuggled with new Christmas afghans.

Have a great Monday!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Hi everyone!

I hope you all had a great holiday today! We did! We had dinner with local family and talked to out of state family. We had a delicious turkey dinner at my sister in law's beautiful home. It was wonderful evening with family and friends.

I can show you the recently finished gifts I made. Plus there's big news!

Here is the hippo I made for our niece. She's such a sweet girl and loves hippos. This turned out larger than I anticipated. The hippo is about 10 inches or so from nose to tail. It's kind of tippy, it's nose weighs it down. I had a last minute dash to the craft store yesterday to get more yarn. Yikes...that was crazy, so many people and so much ice and slush still in the parking lots..

Here is the scarflette I made for my mother in law. This is beautiful yarn. I love the color mix and the way the colors are spread out in the scarf. This look great on mom! This is a short scarf, it wraps around your neck and you can pin it or button it. I sewed buttons on this one, the weave is loose enough to button anywhere.

Hubby and I received many wonderful gifts. We have scarves, napkins and some dishes from Indonesia and Mexico, tools and doggie treats. We even got hand crocheted blanket! A very fun evening for all. :o)

Ok...here's the big news...

Dear daughter got engaged! Her sweet boyfriend bought her a beautiful ring and asked her to marry him on Christmas Eve! We are thrilled for dear daughter and her dear fiance! :o) :o)

From all of us at the wild and wooly Puglette house we wish you the very best for the holidays and the New Year. May we all find peace and contentment.

Pinecone Retrospective

Hi everyone,

Yes, more snow pictures!

Today I decided we would compare the pine cone pictures. The poor things are just covered in snow and ice today. We had about four inches of snow yesterday. I know that isn't a lot in some neighborhoods, but it's a bunch for us! We have had about ten inches total in the past week. Comments are below the photos.

First snowy pine cone - 12/17/08

Second pine cone - 12/21/08

Third pine cone - 12/22/08

This is the back corner of our yard. The white fence is very old, it was hand made by one of the original homeowners in our area. Our little neighborhood is over 100 years old and this fence belonged to a huge Victorian that used to be our neighbor. During our 13 years of owning our home, the Victorian home has been sold and the lot parceled off. We now have a modern duplex as our neighbor. But we still have the old fence. This was a long explanation to tell you that I love the way the snow has gathered in the crescent shape of the fence. I think it's very pretty, in that shabby chic kind of way. A few months ago one of the tenants of the duplex decided she would park her car in the back yard...she crashed into the fence and it now has a lovely hole in it.

You can just hear Ollie thinking "Mom, where is my freakin' sweater!?!"

Charlie is just thinking "yum! chilly snow is tasty!"

This is my lap while I am trying to type this post...I just don't have enough lap for three dogs and my laptop. I try to crochet this way too, all gifts include pug hair at no extra charge.

Have a great day!

Brrrrr

Hi everyone!

It is still snowing up here! I can't believe it, this is the most snow we have had in a long time. Last night we had a little mist of freezing rain so there is a crunchy crust on the snow today. The puppies are not too happy about the crunch when they walk.

Ollie does not like the snow at all! He came out the dog door and made a quick circle on the deck before going back inside to snuggle with dad.

I finished the latest Christmas crochet project and it is beautiful! I will share pictures after the holiday. I think this is my favorite.

Have a warm and snugly Sunday!

Another Finished Project!

Hi everyone!
It has been another snowy day in our neighborhood today. We had another three inches or so today. Poor hubby was stuck in traffic all day! Snow really hampers driving up here, people don't function well and the roads get clogged up. Hubby was told at 1:00 this afternoon that he should head back and go home, he didn't make it home until 8:00 tonight! It was a bad day to be a truck driver. :o(

I stayed home again and finished the scarf for daughter. This is to go along with the gloves I made for her. This was a super easy crochet project and the results are really cute.

I found the pattern at the laughing purple goldfish designs blog. This is the 3, 2, 1 and You're Done Scarf.

I will not be posting my next finished project until after the holidays. This is for someone who reads this bloggy...and you know who you are!

I hope you are all safe and warm in your homes. Take care everyone!

Winter Weather!

Hi everyone,

Winter has decided to stick around in Washington. We have more snow today and it has been really cold all week. The forecast is for more snow and very cold temperatures. I am so glad I can just stay home and work on my Christmas presents! I saw hubby off to work, he happily drove off in the snow. It is not snowing in the whole Puget Sound yet so he will be fine.

Here's a couple of pictures of my snowy day.
This is my favorite tree in the yard, a sugar pine. It's very traditional looking and makes great pine cones.

And of course, here's my little snow puggy, Charlie!

Have a great day!

More Snow!

Hi everyone!

Here are more snowy pictures. I took the first pictures at 11:00 this morning. These are from about 3:00 this afternoon and it is still snowing. It is very pretty, but hubby has to go out tonight to pick his mom up at the Sea-Tac airport. I hope the roads are clear later on...I know he will be a safe driver and he will be in his four wheel drive SUV.

Charlie seems to love the snow!

Honey likes it too!

Ollie...not so much.

Here's another photo from the front porch...more snow!

Snow Day

Hi everyone!
We had a little snow overnight! Just a light dusting, enough to make everything pretty. We don't get much snow in our area so it is always a big deal on the local news. It's pretty funny how the news people go overboard in reporting the "major winter storm" we are having. It is pretty cold. 29 degrees, but nothing like other parts of the US have every winter.

I moved to Washington state from California in 1988...time flies! My first winter, 1989, it snowed about three feet. I had never seen so much snow in my life! I was staying with my sister and had to drive to work. I had zero experience in snow driving. I gamely got in my little Subaru station wagon and slowly drove to work. I was amazed at how much snow there was, it came up to the top of my wheels. I just followed the ruts made by other drivers and slowly made my way to the office. I was one of very few workers that day.

Since then we have not had much snow at all. The most was about six inches. I know how to drive a bit better in the snow, but I prefer not to drive in it. Hubby is quite the opposite, he loves the snow and ice!

I took a few pictures of the puppies outside this morning. Ollie didn't want anything to do with the snow or cold outside. He ran out, did his business and went back inside with dad.

Honeypuppy sniffing the snow.

Frost on my pumpkin!

The view from my front porch, see, just enough to make it pretty.

Charlie, I interrupted her hoovering up the snow. She was so cute, just snuffling it up as she walked across the deck.

My adventure in the outdoors is over, now back to snuggling with the puppies and more crochet!

I Won, I Won, I Won!!

Hi everyone!

I have had a few exciting days this past week. Remember the blog giveaway I was participating in? The giveaway was sponsored by Sweet Figments. I won two of the prizes!

I won these beautiful earrings from Chendric, I just love them! They are really beautiful and handmade! Thanks, Cheryl :o)

I took this picture in daughter's old bedroom. The two nails were already there, I am not sure why she had two nails so close together, but it was handy!

My second prize from the same giveaway is a burp cloth from Snug Bug Clothing. I am happy to win this prize, it will make a lovely gift for one of our nephews. He and his girlfriend are expecting their first child in March. Thanks Snug Bug!

I also recently entered in a drawing on a cute blog, Pterodactyl Pants. This is a blog of cute, fanciful handmade plush items by Jessie Mansbacher. For this drawing you had to write a haiku about the plush she was giving away. Here is my prize and my haiku.

With a simple kiss,

two becomes one. One in love

is lonely no more.

I finished the fingerless gloves for a Christmas gift. They came out really nicely and were fun to make. I have to redo one of the thumbs, it's a little big. I got over confident and did not look at the instructions for the second glove. It's a separate section so it will be easy to redo it. I am working on a coordinating scarf now, it's really cute! The scarf is curling as I go, it makes a really fun look.

I need to get back to crocheting...more gifts yet to make! The weather has turned wintry across our country and I hope you are warm and safe in your homes.

Hugs,

Puglette

Happy Boy

Hi everyone!

I went to work with hubby today! I rode along in his truck as he drove almost to Canada. We went to Lynden and Maple Falls, Washington. Washington is a beautiful state, very scenic. Of course I forgot the camera at home! The sun was out and we could see the snow covered mountain tops.

The puppies were very happy to see us when we got home. Here are some pictures of Ollie in his favorite spot, curled up in Dad's arm.

Charlie wants to say hi too!

hugs,

Puglette

Puggy Snuggling

Hi everyone,
Bajas showed us how he and his brother snuggle on their sofa. Ollie thought that looked like a good idea so he snuggled up on the back of our sofa.

Charlie saw how comfy Ollie was and decided to join him.

I think Ollie just wanted to go back to sleep and had no interest in posing for me.

Ok, kids, back to snoozing!

snuggly pug hugs!
