AKC Agility - The Big Show

Hi everyone!

Wow! What a busy weekend! We spent all weekend at the Seattle Kennel Club dog show. There were so many people and dogs! So many cute dogs, and so many breeds I had never seen before. We had a lot of fun, even though they were long days.

This show was huge! There were dogs being shown all day with the winners at the end of the day. We hung out with the pugs on the first day. They were just adorable. So many wrinkles and curly tail and sparkling puggy eyes. We even got to hold some puppies!

The main floor had about a dozen show rings and the huge agility ring. They also had dog dancing and rally. Also on the main floor were 70 vendors selling all sorts of premium dog food, collars and leashes, toys and beds.

The upper level had booths set up with different dog breeds and information about them. That was my favorite area. It was a meet and greet with dogs! So many nice dogs...I wanted to hug and kiss them all. I loved the big dogs, the newfies and the Bernese mountain dogs. They were so adorable, just like big teddy bears.

Charlie was so good!! She just trots along on her leash, sniffing a bit but mostly just hanging out with us. She doesn't bat an eye at all the strangers and other dogs. Everyone just loved her. She was a very popular girl. People would stop us to pet her and take her picture. She had a cheering section for every agility run made up of people we had met and let them pet Charlie.

The agility trial was very fun. There were so many fabulous dogs running on both days of the show. Charlie did really well. She was fast and paid attention. She did not get any qualifying ribbons but she did so well we are sure it is just a matter of time before she moves up. She didn't want to do all the weave poles on one run and she knocked the bars off a few jumps. But she is so much better with getting her leash on at the end.

At most of the agility trials there aren't many spectators. Usually it's just the other dog owners hanging around watching. This was a huge public show and people paid $10.00 to walk around and watch the dogs. The agility drew a huge crowd. We were so happy with Charlie, the big crowd did not bother her at all. A few of the dogs went to see all the people, but not our Charlie!

Our niece came out to help her grandma on Sunday. Here she is with Charlie...isn't she a beautiful girl? She's a lovely teenager and we just loved having the day to spend with her.

Here is a little movie that hubby made. It is a blend of photos and snippets of the videos we took. I hope he will work on more movies so you can see Charlie's complete run.

Have a good evening!

Hugs,

Pugs + Haiku = Pugku!

Hi everyone!

Yay! It's almost the weekend!

I have been having fun with Haiku! It is a quick and fun way to write poetry. It's super easy - three lines, five syllables, seven syllables, five syllables. That's it! You wrote a poem!

I love the stuffed creatures that Jessie at Pterodactyl Pants makes. They are oddly cute and always fun. Every creature has a haiku. Sometimes she even has giveaways where you leave a haiku in the comments. In fact there is one going on now! Here is the one I just left for Jessie, I was inspired by her fish bones stuffie.

Delectable fish!
Your filets are so tasty,
with lemon and wine.

So here's my Fun Friday idea...please leave a Pugku in the comments! We can all read and share the fun little poems. Everyone can do this, just a few words is all you need! Here's a sample to get you started.
Charlie is a pug.
A silly little black pug.
What a funny bug!

Tan and black, Ollie
always looks so sad. Ollie
turn your frown around!

Happy Friday! I will try to get a lot of dog show pictures over the weekend.
Hugs to everyone!! Whee!! They're free!!

Our New Trophy!

Hi everyone!

Thank you so much for the kind words of encouragement for Charlie. That is so nice of all of you! Charlie went to Grandma's house for games and training today. We all hope she will be on her game for the weekend. I hear she did well today and listened and followed instructions.

I am so excited, when I got home from work there was a box from Mango's Mom!! It was our trophy from Mango Minster! Wow! Is this beautiful!! I couldn't believe that we got an actual trophy. It is a paw print in a kind of nugget look golden stone. The base feels like a ceramic one and there is an awesome plaque with the name of the show, group and Charlie's name!

We Love Our Trophy!!!
Thank you very much, Mango Mom, Mango and Dexter too! It is so nice of you to have these made and then mail them out. It is a terrific trophy and we really appreciate all the work you did.
We also got a bag of some yummy Organic Pumpkin treats for the puppies to share. They are gobbling them up! They look like Teddy Grahams for dogs. They are just a little bigger but still a teddy bear shape.
That's all of our excitement. It has been a quiet week, just business as usual. I signed up for Girlville's relaxing swap and I have started putting my swap package together. It's items you consider relaxing. I will post pictures of my package once it has been received. ;o)
take care!

Awards and Certificates!

Hi everyone!

I hope you have all had a pleasant weekend! Just another quiet Sunday at the puglette household. On Saturday we did some shopping, had dinner with our daughter and Charlie did some agility.

Charlie had an agility trial on Saturday and we apparently missed the boat on this one. Hubby and I didn't notice the schedule and had planned our dinner and shopping day...well, I planned it. Charlie's grandma was nice and took Charlie with her doggies to the show. We heard later that Charlie was not in the mood to weave. She plunked her little bottom down and watched as her grandma tried to coax her through the weave poles.

Our shopping trip was a bit stressful. We went looking at orthotics and shoes to help my hip and back pain. Geesh, it is so hard for me to buy shoes! I love shoes, I would love nothing better than to be able to just wear any kind of shoe I thought was cute...but nooo. I have bad feet and have to have ankle support and arch support. That just does not scream "cute shoes" in my head. >:o(

I did get some schmancy inserts and sport shoes. I am not a tennis shoe girl, I prefer a nice casual mary jane. But I couldn't find anything that met the cute and supportive criteria so I bought some green tennis shoes. They do make my hip feel better and my pinched nerve pain has lessened so I will get comfortable with them.

OK! Now on to the good stuff! I received an award from my new friend Tweedles! She sent us the Honest Award because she likes us! Thank you Tweedles!! We like you too!

And we received Charlie's Certificate from winning the Sporty Group in Mango-Minster! This certificate is just beautiful! We love it so much, thank you Mango!

Next weekend will be a busy one! Charlie will be running in the Seattle Kennel Club AKC Dog Show agility trials. This is a big show and we are excited and nervous too! We have plans for Charlie to go to the groomers for a good bath and toe nail trim. Hubby keeps asking me if we should dye her fur. She has a few white hairs in her shiny black coat that he has talked about dying or putting mascara on them to hide them. Yesterday he asked me if we should dye her coat a really dark black, you know the kind of black dye that has a colored sheen? He's a goofy guy! ;o)
Well, off to finish the laundry!
take care!
hugs,
puglette
