Changes

Hi everyone,

Well, I hear changes are good for you. I will let you know, but right now it does not feel very good. I got fired again, from the same job...that's twice in six months. :o(

This time it's permanent. I got the boot. I am really angry and hurt that after eight years of being there through the good and the bad that as soon as it gets good again, I am tossed out.

I am not sure what to do. I am in shock right now and frightened by the financial outlook. Hubby and I were relaxing and just bought a new to us car with part of the cost financed. I just made the first payment. I am not sure how we will pay our June mortgage. We had decided we could afford a vacation, the first in years. We used our airline miles to buy two tickets to Maui for September. I just can't believe it!

So I am out on the employment trail at 51. I will be competing with kids graduating from college and other young people. Who will want to hire a fat, old woman?

I am really sorry to share my pity party with you all. Your blogs are a solace for my soul. I look to you all for some sort of hope and positive influence. I know things will turn around for us. We have a loving family and friends for support. Today looks bleak but tomorrow will look better.

In an effort to make any additional money possible, I have decided to have advertisements on my blog. I will be working with Dogtime Media and will have only dog or pet related ads. The people at Dogtime are very friendly and helpful and I feel that I will be able to advertise in a tasteful manner. I hope you won't mind too much. I promise, no pop ups, nothing racy or crass.

I will be back on Monday with a better outlook. I need to work through my anger and grief before I can get on with looking for a new job and writing about happier subjects.

Thank you all for being the best cyber-pals a woman could have.
hugs,
puglette

  1. Oh Puglette,
Your post made me cry. I can't stand when bad things happen to good people, and I just want to give you a hug.
I hope that after your anger and sadness subside, you can focus on new beginnings. Sometimes an unexpected job loss allows us to re-evaluate some things and pursue a whole new set of dreams. I have heard countless people say in hidsight that losing a job was the best thing that ever happened to them, even though it felt like a disaster at the time.
Please remember that should your home, your vacation plans, etc. become jeopardized by this, your hubby and your puggies love you unconditionally. So many people with fabulous jobs aren't lucky enough to have that.
We out her in blogland are here to listen to all of your thoughts, even when they are sad! That's what friends are for!
    Thinking of you,

  2. I am so sorry this happened! I am hoping that you will end up with an even better job. I heard on the news that things are starting to get better, so I hope you will get a new job in no time.

I don't see anything wrong with putting ads on your blog. We have a few, and we use the (small) income to pay for treats and toys and my outfits and such.

    {{hugs}} to you.

  3. Hi, just a quick comment to let you know that you can always find support with us, no matter what. I am sad this is happening to you and I hope you find a new light soon. I had an idea once I read this, since you do so many beautiful things with your hands, why don't open an etsy shop in the meantime? I am sure that many of your readers (and many of other etsy buyers) will be interested in your crafts! I hope this little idea helps a little bit. Please, try to relax and enjoy your weekend. You deserve it.

  5. Oh Puglette
We are so sad this happened to you. We know how scarry it can feel, to have security pulled out from under you. It is not fair- You who are such a good person to animals and humans.
And we all know it can happen to any of us at any time. What an awful company to do that to you! I hope they suffer from letting you go!!
We are here for you, no matter if you are happy or sad. Say what you feel and we will listen. Of course we will say our prayers, for help to come to you and your family. We can only imagine how depressed and sad you are. Know we care , and
please lean on us. That's what friends are for.
And you can put anything in your blog- its ok!
    love and hugs to you

  6. With all the experience you have some new company will be overjoyed to have you work with them. New kids out of school don't know squat about the "real work" force. I know you must feel awful but we are all sending positive thoughts your way!!

  9. I am so sorry to hear that your company has let you go again! That is terrible. We don't have any problem with the ads, we understand what it is like having trouble making ends meet. We do hope that something good will come out of this. We understand you need to vent, grieve and then start anew. Anytime you need to vent, we will listen.

  10. We're so sorry to hear about your job loss! I don't think all employers are looking for young workers and the right job will pop up for you real soon! There's a silver lining here somewhere!!! Hugs~ Punchy

  11. Oh Puglette that is bad news. We are going to send many positive thoughts that your perfect job is waiting around the corner. We read the careerbuilder.com web site often and one of the top things they recommend is networking so maybe if you can get out and meet people at events, it would help to spread the word about your strong experience and background! Eight years is a huge investment so you are undoubtedly a specialist with proven staying power. We wish you all the best sweetie.
    many supporting hugs from Texas....

  12. oh I am so sorry this happened. I know how hard and scary it is to be more "mature" than the youngsters coming out of college. But really, I'm finding that more companies want to hire the "mature" people - less investment of time and money in training. I hope that things look up for you soon. - Meezer Mom Mary

  13. Oh, sweetie, I'm so sorry this happened. Don't ever feel like you're throwing a "pity party." We're your friends, and we want to help, even if it's only with a kind word or a prayer.

You are in my thoughts. I know you'll get thru this tough time. The last thing you should be worrying about is ads on your site. You do whatever you have to do -- your friends and readers will understand. Geez, I have one of those stupid floating ads, and you haven't left me! Seriously, I am here for you as a friend and reader and fellow blogger, as are lots of other people. Together, we will get thru this!

  14. Hey,Puglette, this is my first visit to your blog, and I love it! I am very sorry about those stupid people giving you the boot. My mother used to say that God never closes one door without opening another. Just don't miss the open door by staring too long at the closed one! From one fat, old lady to another.... to heck with THEM! You obviously have talent and drive, and you WILL find something. In our extended family we have quite a few 'collecting' at this time. And almost all the others have taken significant pay cuts. So I feel your pain. Somehow you will get through this and triumph. Just don't even THINK about going back to those people even if they offer it!

xoxo from Paco (the Taco) the Pug
