Who's This??

Hi everyone!

I hope you are all well and happy. We are just fine, Charlie is racking up the ribbons in agility. Ollie is snoozing up a storm and has actually been seen snuggling with Honey!

We had a very nice Easter dinner / lunch with family. We played a new game called 4-11. It was very fun and the whole family played.

Yesterday while I was surfing the internet, a few things caught my eye. First is this cute puggie LOL Dog.

Next was this little guy.

Isn't he cute?

But wait...why is he in Dad's chair? What? Is this our new puppy!?!?

Yes!! We have a new puppy! He is about three months old and is the sweetest little guy. I was looking at Craigslist and found an ad from a nice family that was unable to keep their new puppy. After a few conversations back and forth, it was decided that we should at least meet this little boy.

It was love at first sight. And at first puppy kiss, I love that puppy breath. The family he was with were unable to keep him due to apartment rules, no puppies under a year old. This breaks my heart for this nice family. They really love this little boy and have been great parents to him. He is well socialized and sweet and loving. They have been terrific parents and I know the right time for another puggy will come their way.

So now we have a busy household again with all the fun and excitement of a new puppy. We are both ready to take on the extra work that a puppy brings along with those puppy kisses and snuggles. Ollie and Charlie are getting used to the idea and have started to play a bit. Honey is still a bit cranky about the whole idea, but everyone will work out their places in the family.

We'll keep you updated on everyone. We have a busy agility weekend coming up so more photos to come.

take care everyone!
hugs,
puglette

  3. Oh, he's the sweetest!!! What's his name? Or do you need to get to know him a little better to find out?

I feel bad for his first family. It must've boken their hearts to have to part with him, but I'm sure they were able to see that he went to a loving home.

I can't wait to hear and see more of this little guy!

  11. Oh wow! Congrats on your super cute new addition! I'm so sorry for his family who couldn't keep him - that must have been so hard. But now we know he's in a GREAT home.

As for the raw food q - we DO have less issues with bacteria here (salmonella for instance is virtually non-existent), but it's not really a concern for cats and dogs as their digestive systems (unlike ours) are made for processing raw foods. Salmonella is also frequently found in kibble, so the risk isn't really larger with the raw + with all the recalls... Actually a lot more people feed raw in the US than here because meats are so much cheaper there and you have more sources available.

As long as you buy human grade meat it really isn't risky either here or there. Both dogs and cats seem to handle the bacteria much better than us due to a shorter, more acidic digestive system (also raw food is digested in around half the time so it's not in there too long). When testing random cats and dogs around 30% are positive for salmonella without any symptoms, when feeding raw foods positive for salmonella this percentage doesn't vary much at all. Dogs with a weakened immune system can of course get sick and some do from time to time, but I don't consider it more risky than feeding kibble. (I know more dogs that have gotten sick from kibble, Bajas included, than from raw (none, actually, but I know it's possible of course)). If you want you can read more thorough articles at sites like www.rawfed.com

  12. Toooooo cuuuuuuute! Congrats on the new family member. Maybe the other family can find a nice rescue that's old enough to live within the apartment's rules.

Can't wait to see more of your agility - we posted a video of me & mom training last night, also post one of our puggy classmate (named Oliver!). We'll be busy trialling starting in a few weeks, hopefully lots of ribbos for us too!
